Committee Appointment Program - Vacancy Application Form
The Committee Appointment Program is located in the Member Services section of the AAOS web site (www.aaos.org).
To view current openings and to apply for a committee or council position, click the
View all current AAOS committee and council openings hyperlink. Log onto the system using your last name and member password.
The next screen lists, in alphabetical order, all open committee and council vacancies. To view the details of any vacancy, click its hyperlink.
The vacancy announcement screen lists all details concerning the position including the term length, meeting format, member responsibilities, qualifications, and contact information if additional information is needed. Also listed are the member categories that can apply for the position as well as the application deadline and the date when the vacancy will be filled. A list of all current committee members can be viewed from this screen.
To apply for the opening, click the
Continue Application button. If your member category is not eligible for the selected position, an error message will be displayed and the list of openings will be re-displayed. (For example, some positions may only be open to Fellows while others may include Candidate Members or International Members.)
The application form consists of three screens. In the first screen, you must review the committee charges and acknowledge that you have read them.
The next screen allows you to enter the following information:
- Your E-mail address.*
- Your qualifications and interest.* Your response should completely address the vacancy's specific requirements.
- Your educational background and experience.*
- Any conflicts of interest you may have relative to this vacancy.
- Any additional information that is pertinent to your qualifications and the opening's requirements.
- Gender, race, and cultural background.
* Required entry.
Finally, you must provide the last names of two references. These must be Fellows of the Academy. After you have entered the last names, click
Continue to proceed to the next section. Or, if you prefer not to apply, click
Continue Application/Find References to proceed to the next section. Or, if you prefer not to apply, click
Open Positions to return to the list of all current openings.
Once
Continue Application/Find References has been clicked, the next screen will display a list of all Fellows whose last name matches your reference selections plus their city and state and country. Simply click the radio buttons of your references to make your selection.
Next click
Continue Application/Find References to formally apply for the position. A summary page will be displayed that allows you to review your application. If something is wrong, click
Modify Application Entries or
Modify References to make corrections. If everything is correct, click the
Submit Application button. A confirmation of receipt will be displayed with your completed application. Print this page if you want a paper copy of your application. You will also receive a confirmation of receipt to the email address you entered in the application.
