If not, maybe you should consider getting involved with Academy programs such as Prevent Injuries America!, developed to increase public awareness of the orthopaedic scope of practice and promote positive perception of the specialty. A recent Public and Media Relations survey of AAOS members contained in the AAOS Councilor's Report, published May 2000, revealed that more than 7 percent of patient visits can be attributed to public and/or media relations activities.
