Andrew H Glassman, MD Columbus, OH
Dr. Andrew H. Glassman was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in biology. He then completed a Master of Science degree in Biology at the University of Michigan. Subsequently, he entered a PhD program in physiology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine before deciding to enter medical school. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Ohio in 1979, where he finished first in his class.
Dr. Glassman completed his internship at Los Angeles County Hospital/ USC Medical Center in Los Angeles in June of 1980 and then did one year of residency training in general surgery at the Ohio State University Hospital before entering their orthopaedic residency program, which he completed in 1985. He was accepted for a post-graduate fellowship in total joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery at the National Hospital for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation in Arlington, Virginia under the direction of Dr. Charles Engh. He then joined Dr. Engh in clinical practice at the Anderson Clinic. After 16 years he returned home to Columbus where he is an attending physician at Grant Medical Center and serves as associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Glassman has held many academic and administrative positions, while maintaining an active interest in clinical research and product design. He is a member of the Hip Society and is on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals. He has participated in the design of several total hip and knee replacements. He is the author of more than 45 journal articles and book chapters and has given more than 400 lectures in the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
