Michael Gayle Klassen, MD Monterey, CA
Michael Klassen was born in Bakersfield, California, attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield College and graduated from the University of Southern California School of Business in 1974 with a degree in management and finance.
In 1985 Michael Klassen entered the UCLA School of Medicine where he received his medical doctorate degree in 1989. Dr. Klassen then completed a surgical internship year at the University of California, San Francisco with an additional year of general surgical residency training at UCSF before completing four years of orthopaedic surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco.
Michael Klassen, M.D. is the President of Monterey Peninsula Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Institute and practices orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine in Monterey, California. Dr. Klassen is a Board Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Academy of Sports Physicians, Association of the Professional Team Physicians, Western Orthopaedic Association, California Orthopaedic Association, California Medical Association and the Inman Abbott Society of San Francisco and a Qualified Medical Evaluator. Dr. Klassen is Medical Athletic Director & Team Physician for California State University at Monterey Bay Otters and Monterey Peninsula College Lobos, and Team Physician for the Salinas Valley Samba Professional Soccer.
Dr. Klassen is a member of the Board of Directors of the California Orthopaedic Association and has been selected as a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
Michael and Marsha Klassen live in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. They have two daughters Stacy and Samantha and a son Brooks. Michael is an avid golfer and skier, and Marsha plays tennis, bridge and is a terrific cook.
