Richard Iorio, MD Burlington, MA
Richard Iorio, MD, is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and Director of Resident Education at Lahey Clinic. Dr. Iorio has expertise in the treatment of lower extremity arthritis including TJR, osteotomy, and arthroscopic surgery. He has published extensively on topics of adult reconstruction, orthopedic workforce issues, the economics and efficacy of total joint replacement, mortality after orthopedic operation, athletic acitvity and TJA and outcome and cost effectiveness of hip fracture treatment. Dr. Iorio is a member of AAOS, The Hip Society, Knee Society, American Orthopaedic Association, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, New England Orthopaedic Society, The Eastern Orthopaedic Society and the American Association of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a member of the AAHKS Health Care Policy Committee and the AMA CPT Coding Committee. Dr. Iorio is a Consultant Reviewer for J. of Bone and Joint Surgery, J. of Arthroplasty, the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. He is the Vice President and Board Member for the New England Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Iorio has published 78 peer reviewed publications and 10 book chapters. Dr. Iorio has participated in 14 funded grants. Dr. Iorio was named the 2008 AOA Austrian-Swiss-German Exchange Fellow and the 1999 AOA Japanese Orthopaedic Association Exhange Fellow. Dr. Iorio was the recipient of the 2008 Lahey Clinic Research Award.
