Taizoon H Baxamusa, MD,FACS Northbrook, IL
Taizoon H. Baxamusa, MD, FACS was born in London, England and moved to the United States where he was raised in the Chicago suburbs. He graduated from Northwestern University with a major in Economics. He was a competitive swimmer and played Inter Collegiate Water Polo for Northwestern as an Undergraduate. He then received his MD from Northwestern University Medical School in 1995, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society. Dr. Baxamusa then traveled to Yale University, in New Haven , CT. where he spent the next five years in internship and Orthopaedic Surgical Residency. He completed a one year Hand/Upper Extremity/ & Microvascular Surgery fellowship at The Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis, IN. and is currently Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Baxamusa's early career began as a community orthopaedic surgeon in a rural area for three years with an emphasis on his upper extremity practice. He now practices with the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute in Morton Grove, IL. a large orthopaedic group with tertiary referrals and level I trauma centers. He focuses his practice predominantly on the upper extremity from the shoulder to the fingertip, and also performs microvascular surgery, including replantation. Dr. Baxamusa holds the title of Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery with the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is involved with resident education in Hand Sugery in satellite rotations and in clinical research. He also serves on numerous committees within the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and is on the physician advisory panel for the American Academy of Professional Coders. He resides in Northbrook with his wife and two children.
