Paul J Duwelius, MD Portland, OR
Dr. Paul J. Duwelius graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1982 and did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Nebraska and a trauma fellowship at the University of California at Davis. He holds a position at Oregon Health Sciences University as an adjunct associate professor of orthopaedics and is clinical attending at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
He concentrates his orthopaedic practice on adult fracture surgery and total joint reconstruction of the hip and knee. Minimally invasive hip and knee surgery and clinical research in the areas of total joint arthroplasty and fractures of the lower extremity are the major emphasis of his surgical practice. Patient care, development of better total hip and knee clinical pathways to improve patient care and decrease the hospital stay are particular areas of interest.
Dr. Duwelius is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Duwelius is Chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Instructional Course Committee for 2007, a member of the AAOS planning committee and serves as an editor for the Journal of Arthroplasty. Dr. Duwelius is married and has three children. Recreational interests include sports activities with his family including fly fishing, upland bird hunting, cycling, and snow skiing.
