Kevin J. Bozic, MD, MBA is an Assistant Professor in Residence in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Bozic is a graduate of the UCSF School of Medicine and the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Dr. Bozic has fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery from Rush Medical College in Chicago.

Dr. Bozic’s clinical interests are in complex hip and knee reconstruction, and in minimally invasive techniques for total hip and knee replacement. His research interests include technology assessment and cost-effectiveness analysis of surgical technologies, the influence of direct to consumer advertising in health care, and the impact of variability in orthopaedic practice patterns on quality and cost. As an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Board of Directors and the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeon’s Health Policy Committee, Dr. Bozic has been involved in numerous regional and national health policy initiatives that affect orthopaedic practice, including a Medicare DRG advisory panel, the Surgical Quality Alliance’s Pay-for-Performance Initiatives, and the AMA’s RVS Update Committee.

Dr. Bozic was recently awarded the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation’s Clinical Research Award and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Clinician-Scientist Traveling Fellowship Award for his work in Economic Evaluation of Total Joint Arthroplasty.
