Steven L. Haddad, MD was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the University of Michigan, graduating in1985, with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Biology. He graduated summa cum laude as an eight-term James B. Angell Scholar. His honors thesis on mitochondrial DNA in the periodical cicada won the outstanding research project for his senior class, permitting his election to Sigma Xi, the scientific research society.

He attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, graduating in 1989. Following his orthopaedic residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, he completed fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore in 1996. He joined the staff at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in 1996, and practices with the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, Ltd.

Dr. Haddad is an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School, and is chief of the section of foot and ankle surgery at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. He won the James K. Stack Resident Teaching Award at Northwestern University in 2003. He has broad training and specific interest in both basic and complex problems concerning the foot and ankle, with a particular interest in Total Ankle Arthroplasty.

He has authored numerous publications, including a treatise on revision triple arthrodesis, which won both the Roger Mann Award and the Roger Michael Award in 1996. Since that time, he has lectured at 44 national and international academic meetings with 124 presentations. He is an associate and assistant editor of Foot and Ankle International, a consultant reviewer of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a reviewer for Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.

He has served as president of the Young Physicians Section (YPS) of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). He served as delegate to the AMA for the YPS, and Chaired the Committee on Occupational Health for the AOFAS. He served on the Board of Directors of the AOFAS, serving as a Member-at-Large, and served in the Leadership Fellows Program of the AAOS. He served as Program Chair for the AOFAS. He currently serves on the Education Committee of the AOFAS, the Foot and Ankle Subcommittee of the AAOS, and the Professional Liability Committee of the AAOS.

Dr. Haddad is married to Amy and has three sons, Jonathan, Benjamin, and Chase. They reside in Glenview, Illinois. When away from his practice, he enjoys bicycling, golf and tennis for recreation. He is an amateur American historian and photographer. He enjoys playing blues, jazz, and rock guitar, which he has been doing since age 10. He is patiently awaiting his big break in music…for the past 35 years.
