Danton S Dungy, MD Mesa, AZ
I'm current 39 years old and live in Scottsdale, AZ with my wife and son. My practice is located in Mesa, AZ which is one of the large suburbs of Phoenix.
I have roots in the Midwest and the East Coast, my training has reflected this at the Universities' of Maryland and Illinois, George Washington University and Harvard. My current practice remains general orthopedics with a strong slant toward Adult Reconstruction, both primary and revision surgery. My public speaking began back in high school as student body President. Clearly, every orthopedic surgeon is well accomplished as seen through each individual CV; however, I may provide a special skill set when it come to media encounters. Specifically, I was a staff writer and editor for a bi-monthly newspaper at the University of Maryland for 3 years. I believe that this has provided me with some unique insight into the mind of the media, which will allow me to help them obtain the information they want and avoid many of the novice interviewee pitfalls.
I realize that the media often gravitates toward the sensational or relies upon the science behind academia when contacting a spokesperson; however I may be able to contribute as a community orthopedic surgeon seeing average Americans with everyday musculoskeletal problems. With a practice located in the 5th largest city (Phoenix) in the country I see a variety of issues. Also, not having a academic/residency program makes me "stay on my game" regarding the latest technology, trends, techniques, etc. I definitely have to live up to our commitment of life-long learning.
