Jeffrey Alan Fried, MD Macon, GA
I have been Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery since 1984. I am currently Chairman of the Divison of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, a Level I Trauma Center. I hold an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine. I grew up in New Jersey and my undergraduate education was at the University of Pennsylvania, where I also was an All-Ivy League High Jumper. I was also the Gold Medalist in the Maccabiah Games in the High Jump in 1973. I attended Georgetown University Medical School and then completed my orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. I was then a Sports Medicine Fellow at the Cleveland Clinic. I have practiced Orthopaedic Surgery in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Georgia for 27 years. My practice in Georgia over the last 14 years has focused on General Orthopaedics and Trauma. I have served as the team doctor for Indiana University of Pennsylvania and two professional teams, the Macon Peaches (baseball) and the Macon Trax (hockey). I previously served as the CEO of the Macon Whoopee Professional Hockey Team, as well as hosting a radio show called the Zamboni Show. I have been married to Linda Fried since 1974 and have 3 grown children. I have been a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Macon since 1995. My professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Georgia Orthopaedic Society and Bibb County Medical Society. I was one of the founding members of the Warthog Society (Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Fellows Alumni Group).
