John Thomas Gaffney, DO Garden City, NY
John T. Gaffney, D.O., is an attending Orthopaedic surgeon at Winthrop University Hospital with subspecialty training in Pediatric Orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Gaffney treats patients from newborn into adulthood with a special interest in fractures, sports injuries, hip dysplasia and foot deformities in children. Dr. Gaffney is active in the prevention of injuries, as a member of the Trauma and Prevention Committee in the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. Dr. Gaffney is active in publishing clinical studies and frequently lectures on Pediatric Orthopaedic topics to both medical professionals and the public.
Dr. Gaffney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, as well as the Pediatric Orthopaedic Club of New York. Publications and active teaching of Pediatric Orthopaedic surgery has led The State University of New York, Stony Brook University Medical Center, to appoint Dr. Gaffney the Academic position of Clinical Assistant Professor. Administrative experience includes his work as Chairman of the Committee on Quality Assurance at Winthrop University Hospital and Treasurer of the Nassau County Surgical Society.
Dr. Gaffney graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. Orthopaedic surgical training was completed in New York, 2002 with a residency at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center. Post graduate training continued with a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN.
